What Ibidem is
Ibidem is a map of stories about the ground under your feet. Stories are written by people and by us, and each carries a note of where it came from. We try hard to keep them true, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is right, and some stories record local tradition rather than settled fact. Do not rely on anything here for a decision that matters. If you find something wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.
Reading
- No account is needed, and it costs nothing.
- "Tell someone" is one vote per story per browser. Do not automate it.
- Do not scrape the map wholesale, hammer the servers, or try to break them.
Walking
Ibidem sends you to real places. You are responsible for your own safety: mind the traffic, do not trespass, and do not enter anywhere you are not allowed to be. A story about a place is not permission to go into it.
Writing
- You keep ownership of what you write. By publishing it you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to show it on Ibidem and in material about Ibidem, and you can withdraw a story at any time by asking.
- Only publish work that is yours to publish. Do not copy text or drawings from elsewhere.
- Write what you believe is true and say where it came from. Do not invent crimes, scandals or disgrace about a real, named person.
- Nothing hateful, harassing, or aimed at a private individual.
- We can decline, edit or remove anything, and we can close an account that keeps breaking these rules.
What you leave for strangers
Bottles, marks, lightboards and capsules are read by people you will never meet, so the rule is short: there is no tolerance for objectionable content, and none for abusive users.
- Nothing hateful, threatening, sexual, or aimed at a particular person. Nothing you would not want a stranger's child to find, because one might.
- Text is filtered before it is stored, and anything that trips the filter is refused outright.
- Anyone can report what they find, and anyone can block whoever left it. Content that is reported by several people is hidden at once.
- We act on reports within 24 hours: content that breaks this rule is removed, and whoever left it loses their access to leave anything again.
- Whatever you leave, you can take back off the map yourself at any moment.

Buying things
Some small decorative items can be bought on the map. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card. Items are digital and appear on the map straight away. If something does not work as described, email us and we will put it right or refund it. We may change prices, but never for something already bought.
What we do not promise
Ibidem is offered as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, that the map will be complete, or that every story is accurate. To the extent the law allows, Ryonix Labs Inc is not liable for loss arising from using Ibidem. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Carrying on using Ibidem after that means the new terms apply.
